Case of 11 Western Cape AGU Members accused of murder and assault remanded 15 December 2025

The case of 11 members of the Western Cape Anti-Gang Unit, accused of the alleged murder of Wade Price and the assault of his friends in Manenberg, last Thursday, has been remanded to 15 December 2025. 

It is alleged that the deceased died during the interrogation and questioning of possible suspects, as part of an enquiry into the murder that occurred near the Athlone Magistrate Court last week. Police alleged that the deceased complained of an ear pain and collapsed. 

IPID’ s investigation determined that the deceased cause of death was as a result of unnatural causes. More information will be revealed during trial. 

The accused officers face a charge of Murder, 4 counts of Assault GBH, 4 counts of kidnapping and 1 count of torture. 

The case was remanded to 15 December 2025 in respect of accused 7, 9 and 11 for a formal bail application and again 18 and 19 December 2025 for the rest of the 8 accused. 

They will be detained at the Bellville Police Station.
