Four of the five Embalenhle SAPS members in Mpumalanga, made their first court appearance today (21 November 2025) for the alleged murder of an African male on 2 October 2025.
The three Constables and one reservist who are on suspension, were arrested by IPID yesterday, on 20 November 2025.
It is alleged that an African male was assaulted and tortured by the accused officers who conducted a search for drugs at his house, at the Marikana Informal Settlement, at Embalenhle in Mpumalanga.
The officers are facing a murder charge and more charges are expected to be added onto the main charge.
The fifth suspect who was out of the province is expected to hand himself over to IPID today. He will appear before court on Monday, 24 November 2025.
The case was remanded to 27 November 2025 by the Evander Magistrate Court for formal bail application. The accused members will be detained at a local correctional services facility until their next court date.
