Western Cape Constable to appear in court for murder of 33 year old female

A 32 year old police Constable will appear in court today for the murder of 33 year old Andice Alberts in Heidelberg in the Western Cape. The Constable confessed to the killing and pointed out where he hid the body of the deceased.

It is alleged that on 20 April 2017 at about 18:50 Mrs Alberts reported her daughter, Andice Alberts, missing at the Heidelberg Police Station, in the Western Cape. According to Mrs Alberts her daughter was last with the suspect, a Constable, who was on his way to drop her off at her place of work at Witsand. Her daughter never arrived at work. The police Constable was interviewed by the detectives, but he informed them that he had dropped Andice off at her place of work. The policeman was in a relationship with the with the deceased and they have a child together.

On the same evening a missing persons report was opened. Numerous unsuccessful attempts were made to find the missing Andice Alberts. On 22 April 2017 at about 01:10 in the morning, the Constable arrived at the Community Service Centre (CSC), and informed another policeman that he wanted to confess and point out the body of the deceased. After following all the relevant procedures, the suspect pointed out the body of the deceased in Vondeling, which is on the road to Witsand. A case of murder was opened. The investigation was taken over by the IPID. The suspect was arrested and he will appear at the Heidelberg Magistrates Court on 24 April 2017 on a charge of murder.
