An unknown man is allegedly shot and killed by the police at a farm

Independent Police Investigative Directorate is investigating a case of death as a result of police action. it is alleged that on Thursday 12 August 2021 around 23:30 the herdman who was at a Plot when he saw a group of around 7 males approaching the kraal of their cattle managed to sneak out to call for the owner.

It is alleged he (the herdman) then contacted the owner of the herd notifying him about the 7 people at the plot. The owner contacted the police and security guards. It is alleged that when the police responded to the complaint, they left their car at the main road and walked to the kraals with the owner, herdman and security officer.

The police then heard gunshot sounds from those people and they shot back resulting in one African male being shot on the right side of the abdomen and he was then declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

The Deceased is unknown at the moment and was allegedly found in possession of a Toy-gun and phanga. It is further alleged that the remaining 6 male individuals ran away. Evidence was collected from the scene; postmortem is still to be conducted. The matter is still under investigations.
