SAPS Sergeant appears in court for attempted murder of his wife
A 38 year old SAPS Sergeant, based at Wolseley SAPS, in the Western Cape appeared in court on 10 February 2015 for the alleged attempted murder of his wife. The case is being investigated by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) in terms of its mandate in line with the IPID Act 1 of 2011.
It is alleged that in the early hours of 8 February 2015; the complainant and her husband had a fight, which, allegedly ended up with the complainant stabbing her husband with a knife on the right arm. It is alleged that the Sergeant took his official fire-arm and shot his wife on the chest. The Sergeant was arrested and detained at Worcester SAPS. Both the complainant and the suspect are receiving medical attention in Medi-Clinic hospital they are in a critical but stable condition. The Sergeant is under police guard after having been arrested.
The suspect appeared at the Ceres Magistrates Court on 10 February 2015 facing a charge of attempted murder. He was released on R800.00 bail. The case was postponed to 10 March 2015 for further investigations and Mr Sean did not open a case against his wife who is still critical but stable condition at Wolseley Medi-Clinic Hospital.
