SAPS Sergeant to appear in court for drug trafficking
An SAPS Sergeant, who is attached to the uniformed police at OR Tambo International Airport, will appear in court following an investigation by the Independent Police Investigating Directorate (IPID). The appearance stems from a shooting incident in November 2016 in which two police officers, Warrant Officer Colbern Mashego and Sergeant Mabuya, were shot dead in Jet Park, allegedly by fellow police officers over drugs. A bag full of drugs was seized in a marked police vehicle in which the suspect was driving with the late Sergeant Mabuya.
The investigation was initially conducted by the Hawks but the suspect was never arrested. The IPID took over the investigation and after investigation, secured a summons for the suspect to appear in court on a charge of drug trafficking.
The suspect will appear on 10 October 2017 at the Boksburg Magistrates Court.
