SAPS continues to interfere in IPID investigation to shield Phahlane

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has just been informed by its attorneys that their offices were “visited” by a Brigadier Ncube from the North West. Ncube is one of Phahlane's goons who have been conducting unlawful investigations against IPID investigators and witnesses to counter lawful IPID investigations against Lt General Phahlane. He is part of the team led by Major-General Jan Mabula, and most of its members are under investigation by IPID for among others, torture and murder.

A number of IPID investigations have unsettled those who are busy looting SAPS resources. It is not surprising that they will do all in their power to derail investigations and harass IPID investigators. We have become aware of another SAPS plot, in collaboration with some NPA prosecutors, to charge more IPID investigators for investigating massive looting of resources in the SAPS. Those targeted are specifically involved in investigations against Phahlane and torture and murder allegations against Mabula and his North West team.

It is quite telling that the NPA has announced its decision not to charge Gen Phahlane but the NDPP has not responded to the IPID's request for a review of the decision not to prosecute Gen Phahlane for defeating the ends of justice in the face of overwhelming evidence. The IPID is committed to investigate without fear, favour or prejudice. The Constitution requires no less of us.
