SAPS Constable sentenced to 18 years for raping his step-daughter in Rabie Ridge

36 year old Constable Phehane Amos Mangena based at the Sandton police station was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment after he was convicted of 2 counts of rape. The Constable raped his 17 year old step-daughter on 02 May 2016 in Ivory Park. A case of rape was registered and investigated by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID). The sentence was handed down by the South Gauteng High Court on 09 October 2017. The trial started on 10 February 2017 and the suspect was convicted on 27 February 2017.

The IPID is satisfied with the sentence as justice for the victim has been obtained and a predatory figure has been removed from society.

The disciplinary process is still underway.
