Police Constable in the dock for partner’s fatal shooting – Delf Police Station

A police Constable aged 36 stationed at Bellville railway has allegedly shot and killed his partner (37) outside the deceased's place of residence on 03 July 2014. It is alleged that the couple was returning from Bellville Court over a domestic violence complaint against the police officer who had just received a court interdict.

The suspect allegedly fired 15 gun shots fatally wounding the woman. The suspect handed himself over at the Delft Police Station where he was immediately arrested and detained. It is alleged that when the shooting happened the deceased children aged 5 and 9 were inside the house. A service pistol used to shoot the deceased was seized as part of the investigation.

It is further alleged that there is a history of domestic violence between the couple. The number of wounds sustained by the deceased will be known as soon as a post-mortem has been conducted. IPID was informed of the matter immediately after the incident occurred and the investigators quickly rushed to the scene.

The investigation continues.
