Police constable arrested for rape granted bail, Northern Cape - Pella CAS 24/07/2012
Police Constable Kenneth Katlego Malele (27) arrested by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) for rape in Pella was granted bail of R500-00 on 10 July 2012 . The policeman appeared at Kakamas Magistrates Court following allegations that he had raped a 25 year old woman in the early hours of Sunday, 08 July 2012. The suspect police Constable is stationed at Pella Police Station, Northern Cape. The suspect and the victim were previously involved in a romantic relationship.
The complainant alleges that she was invited to the suspect’s place of residence in the early hours of Sunday, 08 July 2012. She alleges that she was raped in the suspect’s house.
The complainant went to Pella SAPS to report the matter. The IPID was notified and immediately took over the docket for investigation. The suspect was apprehended by the IPID on 08 July 2012 at about 22h20 at his place of residence.
The suspect policeman will appear in court again on 15 August 2012. The investigation continues.
