A Police Constable arrested for murder of his girlfriend

It is alleged that on 2016-01-11 at about 20:30 the 31 year Suspect stationed at Norwood police station was seated in the lounge of a commune flat drinking alcohol with his flat mate while his 29 year old girlfriend now deceased was in the bedroom Meadowdale in Germiston. It is alleged that the accused stood up and went to join the deceased in the bedroom, thereafter gun shots were fired. Soon thereafter, they heard the deceased calling one of the witnesses who was also seated in the lounge.

The witness could not access the bedroom as the door was locked and at the same time they heard gunshot sounds coming form the bedroom then soon thereafter, it is alleged that the suspect stepped out of the bedroom with a gun in his hand and told them to stay away. The Security, paramedics and the police were called to the scene and the deceased was found lying in in the bedroom with gunshot wounds to the head.

She was certified dead at the scène. The suspect was arrested on the scene and his gun was confiscated.

The suspect appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s court on Wednesday 13 January 2016 and the case was remanded to Monday 18 January 2016 for formal bail application.

Investigation continues.
