One more SAPS Official is probed by IPID for murder
One more Police Constable based in Inanda police station whose age is yet to be confirmed is being investigated by Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) for allegation of murder that took place in the vicinity of liquor outlet at Amaoti, Inanda north of Durban. It is alleged that on Sunday, 27 October 2019 at around 04:00 the Constable had an argument with a 28 year old male about a torch light. The argument led the Constable to fetch his Police issued pistol from his vehicle. Upon returning the Constable fired five shots and instantly injuring the 28 year old male. The injured male was taken to the clinic where he was certified dead. The Constable disappeared from the scene and he is still being sought for his actions. IPID investigation is on-going. IPID is concerned about how some of the Police officials are conducting themselves more especially when are they are off duty. Some of them have a tendency of visiting public entertainment areas and /or liquor outlets whilst having access to the firearms. This should not be the case or practice as the firearm legislation is clear on how to manage and handle all firearms.
