IPID is investigating a case of discharge of fire arm & attempted murder
The IPID is investigating a case of discharge of fire arm & attempted murder allegedly committed by a Sgt Police Officer who is attached to PPS Unit, Mpumalanga on the 9th of September 2020. It is alleged that the suspect police officer had a dispute with his girlfriend and confronted her at her house where the dispute became physical.
It is alleged that the officer then took his state issued firearm and shot the mother of her girlfriend in the hand/arm and shot the girlfriend on the head, causing injuries. It is further reported that the suspect police officer allegedly warned his (The girlfriend) that he told her that he would kill her that was before he ran away as he was under the impression that she was dead.

The IPID took up the matter, contacted witnesses and collected statements; upon its pliminary investigation; the IPID secured a warrant of arrest against Police Sgt. The suspect was arrested by the IPID and appeared in the Kwabokweni court. The case was remanded to the Masoyi Periodic court to sit on the 17th November 2020 for possible bail application and further investigations
