IPID investigates an off duty police officer for a murder of civilians.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) in Mpumalanga is investigating a police officer for a Murder.
The incident is alleged to have happened on the 30th of September 2023 in Ogies in Mpumalanga. An off duty police officer is alleged to have left the Tavern after a fight and followed by a group of people home. Upon arrival at home, he had an altercation with the group and another fight ensued where he was assaulted and one of the group members assaulted him with a spanner. He is said to have went into the house, allegedly returned with a firearm, fatally shooting a female member of the group and wounding three others.
The police member and others were taken to the hospital where one of the wounded succumbed to the wounds. The police office is said to be attached to the Ogies detectives.
IPID took over the case docket and busy with the investigations while the injured including a police officer are recuperating at the hospital. No arrest has been made at this stage.
