IPID Investigates Death as a result of Police Action
IPID is investigating a case of death as a result of Police action. It is alleged that on the 19 th March 2022 at about 09:50, a police officer shot his ex-girlfriend who was with her two children aged 9 and 19 at Norwood, Johannesburg.
The deceased had gone to Norwood to meet up with a new tenant, when the police officer who was in the vicinity asked to speak to her when she was done with her meeting with the new tenant. An argument ensued between the two. She walked away and the suspect allegedly fired his gun into the air and the bullet fatally wounded the deceased.
The deceased’s 19-year-old confronted the police officer about what had happened and the police officer turned the gun on himself. An ambulance was called in and it took the police officer to the Milpark hospital where he was later declared dead. A case of murder has been opened and IPID is investigating.
