IPID has arrested a Warrant Officer for rape in Langebaan, Western Cape
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has arrested a 53 year old Warrant Officer stationed at Langebaan SAPS in the Western Cape.
It is alleged that the 23 year old victim was arrested on 16 November 2012 for the possession of tik and mandrax in Langebaan and detained at the station. The standby detective was called and took the victim out of the cells to his office. The suspect then allegedly forced the victim to perform oral sex on him. The suspect was then allegedly interrupted by one of his colleagues and took the victim back to the cells. He later went back to the cells where he allegedly raped the victim.
The suspect also allegedly visited the cells again on Sunday, 18 November 2012 where he allegedly raped the victim again in the cells.
The incident was reported to the police on 21 November 2012 and IPID was informed on 22 November 2012 about the incident and took over the investigation.
The suspect was arrested on 26 November 2012 by IPID investigators. He will appear on 27 November 2012 at Langebaan Magistrates Court on a charge of rape.
The investigation continues.
