IPID arrested a former police constable for rape
The independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) in the Western Cape has arrested a 32-Year-old Police Constable for Rape and Malicious Damage to Property.
The Accused broke into a 34-year-old Survivor’s bedroom and raped her. The incident happened on 21 January 2022 at Nomzamo, Lwandle in Cape Town.
The member was stationed at Lwandle Police station at the time of the commission of the offence. He has since been dismissed as result of recommendations from IPID.
The Accused was arrested on Tuesday 18 April 2023 and he is appearing at Strand magistrates court this morning.
