IPID arrested 5 SAPS investigators earlier today

MEDIA STATEMENT

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate’s Rural Strategic interventions have led to the arrest of five South African Police investigators in Vredenburg, West Cost earlier today, the 25 November 2020 on a charge of murder.

SAPS failed to report this incident as required by the IPID Act, the Directorate later learnt through the deceased’s family which reported the death as a result of police action case on the 03 November 2020.

IPID conducted an in-depth investigation into this incident which led to the identification and arrest of the five members today.

The police officers are currently in custody, due to appear at the Vredenburg Magistrate Court tomorrow, 26 November 2020 facing the charge of murder.
