IPID arrest a 29 year old Police Constable for allegations of statutory rape, at Phuthaditjaba Free State
It is alleged that on the 07 November 2015, a 14 year girl was waiting for transport in the street as she was dismissed from Leratong Children’s home. It is alleged that a 29 year old Police Constable attached to the Namahadi Detective unit. It is alleged the member took the victim to his room in the Police Barracks and he allegedly raped her the whole night without using any protection.
On Sunday the 08 November 2015, the suspect dropped the victim in the street and she managed to go to Phuthaditjaba Police Station to report the alleged matter.
IPID took over the investigation and the victim was taken to Elizabeth Ross Hospital for examination only to find that that there was no doctor on duty. She will be attended to on Monday 09 November 2015.
The suspect was arrested on allegations of statutory rape and he will appear in court on 10 November 2015 at the Phuthaditjaba Magistrates Court.
