Independent Police Investigative Directorate is Investigating The Case of Death as A- Result of Police Action

Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is investigating a case of death as a result of police action emanating from Delft are in the Western Cape Province. It is alleged that on 2021-08-03 at about 14:45, South African Police Service(Saps) members attached to Delft Crime Prevention Unit were searching for stolen property at a house in Bottlebutter Street Delft.

In the process, a suspect pulled out a firearm from his waist and pointed it towards the members. In return, one police constable at the scene shot the same suspect in the stomach and fatally wounded him. The 23 year old deceased suspect was declared dead at the scene and was later taken to Tygerberg mortuary. The next of kin of deceased were briefed accordingly at the scene.
