ICD invites the media to a briefing on the status of cases under investigation in KwaZulu-Natal

The Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD) is a government institution that operates independently in the impartial investigation of cases of deaths in police custody and as a result of police action, criminality and misconduct allegedly committed by members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Municipal Police Services (MPS).

For the past few years, deaths due to police action, particularly shootings of suspects allegedly by police officers have been on the increase in KwaZulu-Natal. The investigation of such cases has posed interesting challenges for the ICD. The ICD will be giving feedback on some of these cases.
