ICD has Arrested a Warrant Officer for Murder in Bloemfontein, Free State
The ICD has arrested a 49 year old Warrant Officer for shooting 29 year old Modiehi Rakhari in Bloemfontein in the Free State on 24 March 2012. The suspect is based at the Bloemfontein Flying Squad.
It is alleged that on 24 March 2012 at about 23:15, the suspect assaulted a patron at Lanti’s Place (a local tavern in Phase 6, Bloemfontein). The suspect then fired several shots outside the tavern and one shot hit Ms Rakhari who fell near the main entrance to the tavern. Ms Rakhari was declared dead by paramedics at the crime scene. The deceased had a gunshot wound on the left upper chest area and another wound on the right rib side.
ICD took over case docket for further investigation. The suspect was arrested and detained by the ICD and his service firearm was confiscated for ballistic testing. The suspect was off duty when the offence was committed.
The suspect will appear at the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on 27 March 2012. He will face the following charges:

Murder;

Assault GBH
-
Handling a firearm while under the influence of liquor; and

Discharging a firearm in a municipal area.
The suspect is currently in custody until he has appeared in court. The investigation continues.
