Former Ekurhuleni police officer sent to prison for GBV
The former EMPD Police Officer has been sentenced to Five Years Imprisonment for assaulting his Girlfriend (27). He kidnapped, assaulted, pointed and threatened his Girlfriend with a firearm. After he was arrested and released on bail, he violated his bail conditions and protection order by hurling threats at the Complainant. He was then rearrested and remained in prison until the case was concluded.
The member Mr Manuel Emanuel (30) was convicted of Assault with Intention to do Grievous Bodily Harm, Pointing of Firearm, Discharge of Firearm and Kidnaping on 24 March 2023.
He was the sentenced to direct imprisonment on Monday 17 April 2023 in the Palm ridge magistrates court this morning. Mr Emanuel has since been dismissed by the City of Ekurhuleni on 14 January 2022 as a result of IPID recommendations.
