A Female Police Officer Escapes Multiple Gun Shots at the Hands of Her Husband Police Officer (Both SAPS Members)
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate is investigating a case of an attempted murder after a police officer allegedly fired multiple shots at his wife (a police officer). It is alleged that on Saturday the 12th of August at about 01:30am the married couple had an argument which apparently got heated at the time and the suspect male officer went to the room and fetched his service pistol.
He allegedly cocked the firearm and the complainant female police officer immediately ran out of the house. As she was running, it is alleged that the suspect then fired multiple shots at her direction as she fled. It is alleged that the suspect then went to Gordonsbay SAPS where he handed in his service pistol and left to his parent `s family house.
IPID spoke with the mother of the suspect and she confirmed that his son was at her house. On the same day at about 14:00pm, the suspect handed himself over at Strand Police station where he was detained by the IPID. IPID found 11 cartridges on the scene and they were collected for further investigations. The suspect appeared in court on Monday the 16th of August 2021 and the case is postponed to 23rd of August 2021 for a formal bail application with Strand Magistrate Court. IPID is investigating the matter.
