Cummings to be sentenced today

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) will be today attending a sentencing of an Ekurhuleni Metro Police Officer for a rape matter which IPID investigated few years ago, his sentencing will be held at the South Gauteng High Court today.

Superintendent Adam Cummings, a former EMPD Senior member was convicted of 3 counts of rape and 1 human trafficking. While his Co accused Tebogo Maregele was convicted as an accomplice to rape of 9-year-old and 2 counts of exploitation of children for financial gain. The allegation IPID investigated was that Cummings paid Maregele to lure young girls around Soweto between the ages of 8 and 15 years. She will take them to Cummings who will then drive with them to Avalon Cemetery where he will show them his service firearm and rape them.

The Directorate anticipates that this sentence will send a strong message to those who continue to commit similar crimes.
