Constable LP Lesia form Lindley Police Station was sentenced R 60.000 or three month imprisonment
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has successfully secured conviction in the Bethlehem Regional Court on 12 July 2016.
The Accused a Constable Lesia was found guilty of negligent discharge of fire arm and handling a firearm while under the influence. This follows an incident on 29 April 2013 where he attempted to shoot his Colleague Constable M B Sithole after he accused him of sending the police to his house to search. He shot and missed him.
He was sentenced to R60 000.00 or 3 months imprisonment which is wholly suspended for five years and NOT declared unfit to possess a firearm.
