Constable in court for alleged rape of woman in Diepkloof– Gauteng
A 40-year-old Constable appeared at the Protea Magistrates Court on 11 November 2014 for rape and kidnapping. The victim is a 20-year-old woman
It is alleged that the suspect, who is stationed at JHB Garage in Norwood, went out for drinks with the victim at around 20:30 on 08 November 2014. They went to “Panyaza Tarven” in Soweto and returned at around 23:30. The suspect indicated to the victim that he wanted to switch on the lights at his house and the victim went inside with him. It is alleged that the victim went outside the house through the back door towards the gate. The suspect is alleged to have followed her and then dragged her inside the house where he allegedly raped her. A case of rape was opened at Diepkloof SAPS on 09 November 2014.
The suspect was arrested by the police on 10 October 2014. The case was then reported to the IPID, which took over the investigation and charged the suspect for rape and kidnapping. The suspect appeared at the Protea Magistrates Court on 11 November 2014. The case was postponed to 19 November 2014 for further investigation and a formal bail application. He is in custody at Diepkloof SAPS.
