3 Flying Squad Constables arrested for robbing a foreign national in Pretoria

Three (3) Flying Squad Constables were arrested by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) on 23 August 2018 for robbery of a Somali national. The suspects will appear at the Pretoria Magistrates' Court on 24 August 2018 on a charge of robbery.

It is alleged that on 02 August 2018 the IPID received a report from Pretoria Central SAPS in which it was alleged that a Somalian man had lodged a complaint that three police officers from Flying Squad had robbed him of two hundred and ninety four thousand rand (R294 000). IPID took over the investigation and found evidence of criminality by the policemen. Warrants of arrest were obtained and executed by IPID investigators.
