23 year old man shot dead by three Policemen during shoot out with gang rival.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is investigating an inquest case where a 23 year old man was shot dead by police during a shootout at Shubert Street Michells plain, Cape Town.
It is alleged that on 2016-03-19 at about 02:10 three (3) males were engaged in shootings as a result of an on-going gang rivalry and one victim was shot and taken to hospital. When the police responded to the incident, It is alleged the suspects started firing in the direction of the police who then returned fire fatally wounding one of them. It is further alleged that one suspect was arrested and third suspect got away and is still at large.
IPID was contacted about the matter and an inquest docket was opened to determine the cause of death and IPID took over the investigation.
